Hypnosis and dentistry - Hypnodontics

Dental anxiety and avoidant (often unconscious) behaviours are a major contributor to why people avoid going to the dentist.

Patients worry about pain, loss of control, being judged and humiliated. Many have specific fears associated to the smell, sounds, the dental chair or even needle phobias. Hypnodontics provides an effective treatment for anxiety and phobic responses and pain management. This approach also provides an effective tool to manage the many unconscious symptoms, side effects, unhelpful behaviours and habits such as smoking and the the impact of stress on oral hygiene.

Evidence indicates that clinical hypnosis establishes an attitude or mindset change, so that patients are much more likely to improve in routine check ups, follow up appointments and to have the motivation to practice improved oral hygiene.
