SHEILA MENON FBSCH FBAMH
Principal LCCH Asia, Dean LSČHSheila Menon is the Principal, LCCH Asia and Dean of the London School of Clinical Čommunication & Hypnosis (LSČH). She has over 30 years of experience in the field of clinical hypnosis and has pioneered training and dissemination of clinical hypnosis in Asia. In 2010, the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis awarded her a Fellowship for her contribution to the field of clinical hypnosis. Sheila is a hands-on principal, taking time to meet students and speaking at the start and close of all courses. She lectures in London and Asia, teaches first-year medical students at University Malaya about clinical hypnosis, and has initiated and supervised a number of research projects. She represents clinical hypnosis at a growing number of medical and allied health conferences and is actively involved at integrating clinical hypnosis as a relevant adjunct within mainstream medicine. Sheila is a founding Director at LCCH Therapy Centre @ Pantai Hospital, has a busy private practice and is Secretary of the Malaysian Society of Clinical Hypnosis.
DR ALAN SOH
MBBS, PDHyp, PDCBHyp, MBSCH, Medical Director LCCH Asia, Past President Malaysian Society of Clinical Hypnosis and Senior LecturerDr. Alan Soh is the Medical Director of the LCCH Asia and the past President of the Malaysian Society of Clinical Hypnosis. He is also a general medical practitioner with his own practice in Shah Alam, Selangor, where clinical hypnotherapy is offered both as an adjunct to medical practice and as a stand-alone clinical hypnotherapy option. Dr. Alan blows the cobwebs away and brings excitement and passion into the classroom. He teaches at all levels and inspires generations of clinical hypnotherapists and medical doctors to bring care and comfort into their clinical work. Dr. Alan believes that symptoms are an expression of a delicate interplay of biological, psychological and social factors. His training as a medical doctor has enabled him to manage the biological components of diseases, whilst his experience in clinical hypnotherapy enables him to practice holistic medicine and address the psychological and social components of illnesses. Dr. Alan is a pioneer in the use of clinical hypnosis in surgery. His research with University Malaya was presented at the Inaugural Malaysian Conference for Clinical Hypnotherapy in 2015. Dr Alan has also worked with the Malaysian Ministry of Health Hypnosis, using clinical hypnosis as an adjunct for patients’ under-going surgery and in the private hospital setting. Today, medical doctors and anesthetists can learn from Dr. Alan how to make these skills available within their own medical practice and with their specific patient populations through the LCCH Asia Specialist Medical Module in Surgery. Dr. Alan is a visiting Hypnotherapy Consultant at the University Malaya Medical Centre’s Chronic Pain Clinic.
CHARLES CARUANA
PDCHyp, FBSCH, Programme Leader Medical Diploma Head, Clinical Supervision LCCH Asia Senior LecturerCharles Caruana is an exciting and passionate lecturer. He combines over 30 years of psychoanalytical psychotherapy with clinical hypnotherapy offering students profound insights, sharing his extensive knowledge and bringing the world of therapeutic training alive in the classroom and on the LSČH On-line Training Platform. Charles is Programme Leader for the Medical Diploma at LCCH International and Head of Clinical Supervision for LCCH Asia. He has designed a number of specialist courses, including Clinical Hypnosis and Regression, Past Life Regression Therapy and Life Between Life. Charles is a registered psychoanalytic psychotherapist with the UK Council for Psychotherapy, and a Fellow Member of the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis. He serves on the Society’s executive committee, responsible for policy relating to overseeing the supervision of practitioners. He has a busy clinical practice and has been a senior lecturer in clinical hypnotherapy for over 17 years.
MICHAEL TAN
DHyp, PDCHyp, DCBHyp, MBSCH, MAPACS, Centre Manager LCCH in SingaporeMichael Tan is the Centre Manager for the LCCH in Singapore. He is an extremely wise and knowledgeable practitioner and is responsible for the on-going training and support of generations of clinical hypnotherapists. Michael has always had a passion for exploring the mysteries that surround consciousness. He has followed his passion by exploring fields such as Ayurvedic Pharmacology, Medical Yoga, Clinical Hypnotherapy and Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy and today uses these skills to help people heal and transform Michael is the backbone of the LCCH Singapore Centre. Students find him supportive, kind and always willing to help resolve their problems. Despite his extensive knowledge, Michael is able to reduce the concepts to the basic level, making him extremely popular as a tutor and mentor. Michael is a full member of the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis, a practitioner member of the Association of Psychotherapists and Counsellors (Singapore) as well as an affiliate member of the Academy of Family Physicians of Malaysia. He is also a certified Lecturer/Tutor with the Committee for Private Education (CPE) for the London College of Clinical Hypnosis (LCCH) Asia in Singapore.
ERIC YAP CHEE WENG
DCHyp, Certificate Course Leader, LCCH Asia Programme Leader, LCCH CorporateEric Yap has been involved in training since 1990. He is familiar with the challenges that office staff and managers face and uses an extensive range of eclectic approaches to resolve group and individual difficulties. His special interest is working with the corporate sector resolving stress and anxiety problems, building resilience and restoring or training in motivation and peak performance. Eric brings fun and movement into all levels of his teaching and coaching. He is a sensitive and committed coach dedicated to his students and helping them to excel in their choices of learning. He is able to simplify complex ideas and present them in easy to understand practical components that can be integrated with other models. Eric is a Master Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming certified by the International Society of Neuro-Semantics and also runs a number of short personal development programmes for the public. He is also a practising clinical hypnotherapist specializing in alert state therapy and corporate coaching and is instrumental in a number of the LCCH Corporate programmes.
DR YEW FOO CHUN
MBBS, PCHyp, MBSCH, Senior Lecturer LCCH AsiaDr. Yew is a senior medical doctor in a group practice where she includes clinical hypnosis as an adjunct and clinical hypnotherapy as a stand-alone therapeutic intervention. Her 30 years’ experience of working with patients has allowed her to develop her own management style for chronic illness and psychosomatic symptoms. Dr. Yew is passionate about clinical hypnotherapy and about empowering future clinical hypnotherapists and medical doctors to work safely and competently with the enormous range of medical, psychological and behavioral conditions which clinical hypnosis can help. She shares her knowledge freely helping students to develop their own protocols for clinical management of symptoms and patients’ distress. Students also benefit from her clear structured presentations and find her easy to approach.
THANAM SELVA
Senior Lecturer Clinical Hypnotherapist BA, PDCHyp, MBSCHThanam Selva has extensive experience as a counselor and clinical hypnotherapist. She has worked in Malaysia, India, London and Holland and gained her Practitioner Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy from the London College of Clinical Hypnosis (LCCH UK), accredited by the University of West London. She also developed public education programs on making lifestyle changes for a healthier life through the Malaysian Healthy Ageing Society (2002). Thanam brings the warmth and generosity of her consulting room into the classroom. Students thoroughly enjoy her classes, finding the safe and friendly environment she creates a perfect setting to explore their unconscious mind. Thanam believes that patients’ health can be improved by relieving emotional stress and unlocking painful memories and fearful states. Her approach is integrative combining client focused counseling techniques with clinical hypnosis and clinical hypnotherapy techniques to effect profound change. Her core interests are in stress management, grief counseling, women’s issues and working with children.
YASMIN HEADLEY
Integrative CBT TherapistYasmin Headley is an Integrative CBT therapist and supervisor with 20 years experience in the area of psychotherapy. She studied therapy in the UK and US and is a member of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy, the British Association for Counseling and Psychotherapy, and trained with the Academy of Cognitive Therapists in Philadelphia, USA. Yasmin has a busy private practice in London where she combines CBT, biofeedback, hypnosis, guided imagery, mindfulness, autogenics, positive psychology and energy medicine in her therapy work. She taught at the Universidad de Los Andes and Colegio Americano in Bogota, Colombia and at the Academy in the UK. She is a Director at the LCCH Therapy Centre @ Pantai Hospital (Malaysia). Yasmin grew up and went to school in Malaysia and believes that good therapy is like good Malaysian food - it is about the method, discipline, variety, adaptability, pleasure, joy, fun and going back to our roots.
DR NIRMALA KALAR SAMBANDAM
BSC, MBBS, D.OPH, PDChypDr Nirmala has over 31 years of experience as a medical doctor. She has worked in India, Malaysia (at University Malaya Medical Center in Family Medicine) and is currently in private practice where she incorporates clinical hypnosis and main-stream medical approaches to help her patients. Dr Nirmala is a tutor and lecturer on both the medical and non-medical courses. She also practices clinical hypnotherapy and provides hypnotherapy talks, group relaxation and stress management therapy for corporate organisations.
DR KHAIRI CHE MAT (Psychiatrist)
Senior Lecturer Medical Faculty Unisza, Ethics Adviser LCCH AsiaDr Khairi is a psychiatrist and senior lecturer at the Medical Faculty, Unisza. Dr Khairi has initiated several research projects in Malaysia exploring the benefits of including clinical hypnosis in mainstream psychiatry. He works closely with LCCH Asia and is a member of the team presenting clinical hypnosis to the Malaysian Ministry of Health. He also provides ethical advice on the structure and delivery of LCCH Asia courses. Dr Khairi is a Director at the LCCH Therapy Centre @ Pantai Hospital and offers clinical hypnosis both as an adjunct and standalone therapeutic option within his psychiatric practice.
DR AFZAN ADILAH AYOB (Dentist)
Endodontists UiTM Specialist, Lecturer LCCH AsiaDr Afzan is one of the pioneering dentists in Malaysia committed to including clinical hypnosis as a sub-specialisation for dentists. She uses clinical hypnosis to manage patient comfort during procedures and for helping patients to tolerate lengthy dental procedures and become accustomed to braces and dental prosthesis. Dr Afzan is passionate about the possibilities that clinical hypnosis can bring for both the patient and the dental practitioner and is one of the dentists collaborating with LCCH Asia to offer specialist training in clinical hypnotherapy for dentists.
MURALEE NAIR
LCCH Corporate - consultant, BA in Political Science, MSc in Risk ManagementMuralee is a Crisis Management Consultant with over 35 years of experience. He has worked on a number of global events such as Lockheed-Tanaka and Anti-Tobacco challenges and projects such as Northern Ireland Investments, New Coke. In 1990, he became one of the pioneers of risk management in Asia, involved in some prominent crises including the crash of a B747 in East Asia, the eviction of squatters on Malayan Railway Land, disruption of an IVF Centre and the loss of Digital Data that had financial, legislative, legal, environmental and reputational consequences. His varied experiences made him a leader in the pursuit of learning from mistakes and an advocate against the corporate blame culture and theories of single-points of failures. Muralee adopts the practical methodology to examine issues, risks, and the potential of crises for corporate leaders through facilitated workshops and simulated exercises. His customized courses focus on real-time real situational problems that are or could confront corporates in Asia. They are designed and controlled to tease out practical risk controls from the hubris within the realm of a corporation’s ongoing operational parameters and constraints. In addition, programs in risk advocacy, operational safety culture, crisis leadership and media management are specifically customized for senior management. Currently based in Australia, Muralee has worked in Singapore, the United Kingdom, and Malaysia and has a strong working knowledge of both international and Asian corporate cultures and their opportunities and constraints in managing issues, risks, and crises.

PDChyp Clinical Hypnosis Senior LecturerYap Ju Lian is a Clinical Hypnotherapist as well as a certified Colour Therapist and Play Therapist. She has a busy private practice and sees patients in both Malaysian and Singapore. She has extensive experience working with a multitude of symptoms from both clinical to non-clinical cases. Ju Lian’s aim is to challenge students inviting them to think outside the box. Her delivery of LCCH Asia course material is unique and designed to develop both critical and creative thinking, through the optimal combination of theory with expansive practical work and group discussions. She integrates expertise from her previous vocation as a Corporate Strategic Planning Director, Executive Creative Director, and Corporate Trainer. Ju Lian is actively involved with providing pro-bono treatment for abused women and children, such cases referred to her by Non-Government Individual (NGI) rescuers and shelters. She also offers gratis group therapies for caretakers and caregivers of special needs children and adults.
TAN SRI DATO' SERI AZLANII DR M MAHADEVAN
Adviser LCCH Asia, Psychiatrist and Clinical Hypnotherapist Fellow British Society of Clinical HypnosisTan Sri Dr. M Mahadevan has been involved with clinical hypnotherapy for over 55 years. He has worked with some of the most important global researchers and contributors to clinical hypnotherapy – Dr. John Hartland (UK), Dr. Herbert Spiegel (USA) and Dr. David Spiegel (USA). Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr M Mahadevan, is a former Government Chief Psychiatrist (Malaysia) and Founder of the Malaysian Psychiatric Association. He is also the co-founding member of the Malaysian Society of Clinical Hypnosis (MSCH), which was established in 1984. In 2008, the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis recognized his contributions in the field of clinical hypnosis and made him a Fellow of the BSCH. Tan Sri Dr. M Mahadevan became an adviser to the LCCH Asia in 2007. He attended each of the courses, meeting students, evaluating the relevance of the curriculum and advising on the delivery and assessment curricula. He gave his seal of approval in 2008, lobbied for the inclusion of LCCH graduates to MSCH, worked with LCCH Asia to represent clinical hypnosis to the Ministry of Health (Malaysia) and launched the Harvard Travelling Fellowship in 2010, which allowed one LCCH Asia graduate with medical training to spend a month at the Massachusetts General Hospital.
PETER MABBUTT
PDCHyp, FBSCH, Principal LCCH International, Director of Studies LCCH AsiaPeter Mabbutt is the Principal of LCCH International. He has extensive experience in the teaching and practice of clinical hypnosis and was one of the pioneering faculty members for UK’s first masters degree in clinical hypnotherapy. Peter is refreshingly down to earth, available to help students and always willing to share his expertise. He is the Director of Studies for LCCH Asia sharing his clinical knowledge with students in Asia and participants on the LSČH on-line programmes. Peter is the Vice President of the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis, co-author of two best selling books on clinical hypnosis, a visiting consultant at a number of international therapy centres and hospitals. He is committed to developing research and academic collaborations across borders
DR N SUMITHRA PREMADASA
MBBS, Dip Pract Derm, PDCHyp, MBSCH Course Leader, LCCH Asia DiplomaDr. Sumithra believes absolutely in the body’s innate ability to heal itself. She combines 25 years of medical practice with body-mind approaches and has pioneered the use of clinical hypnosis in the management of distress and anxiety in chronic cancer patients. Dr Sumithra has a special interest in psychosomatic symptoms and functional illness. Dr Sumithra is the course leader for the Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy. Her students are fascinated by the different ways clinical hypnosis can be integrated into treatment plans and how this in turn influences recovery, the patient’s perception of quality of care and their positive or negative mindset. Her teaching is enriched through her clinical experiences and her willingness to share these insights leads students to a better understanding of how many medical symptoms stem from deep-rooted psychological factors. Dr Sumithra uses clinical hypnosis as an adjunct in her GP practice and as a clinical hypnotherapist at LCCH Therapy Centre @ Pantai Hospital. She is a senior lecturer on the Medical Diploma and teaches at all levels of LCCH Asia courses.
BILL FROST
BSc (Hons), PDCHyp, MBSCH Senior LecturerBill Frost combines an exciting range of corporate, IT, communication and clinical hypnotherapy skills into a modern approach to therapy and personal development training. He is a senior lecturer for LCCH International and a frequent visitor to LCCH Asia where he lectures in Malaysia and Singapore. Bill is a dedicated and meticulous clinical hypnotherapist, with an eccentric sense of humour that students thoroughly enjoy. His combined passion for IT and helping people led him to develop several computer-based tools to assist clinical hypnotherapists. He also runs workshops for therapists to create their own technology assisted support for patients. Bill has a busy private practice in Central London and in High Wycombe and has developed a reputation for the successful treatment of trauma, addictions, and anxiety-based conditions in particular.
MICHELLE HAGUE
BA (Hons) Ed. Cert Ed., PDCHyp Senior LecturerMichelle Hague is a further education lecturer with a passion for interactive learning. She integrates a number of different approaches including education psychology, NLP, clinical hypnotherapy and CBT. She has developed several programmes in clinical hypnotherapy including the use of hypnosis and imagery-led gastric band protocols and the use of clinical hypnosis in fertility and pregnancy. Michelle’s approach to teaching is practical and down to earth. She shares case studies and learning theories with students helping them to develop their own treatment protocols and always on hand to coach them through the practical implementation of the skills. Michelle works from four busy private clinics in Sidmouth; Axminster; Seaton and Exeter in East Devon and is known for her success with all anxiety-based conditions.
DR ROGER BUHLER MD
MBBS, PDCHypDr Roger Buhler is a Swiss Family Physician and medical hypnotherapist. His work in both Europe and Asia provides a first-hand experience of how belief systems affect patient recovery and well-being. He is particularly interested in the impact of stress on health and performance and is an expert at integrating clinical hypnosis and other body-mind disciplines into patient care. Dr. Roger is a kind and attentive lecturer, willing to share his clinical experiences which include working in Europe, Asia and with rural communities. His classes are dynamic and students are encouraged to participate in discussions and challenge old beliefs in order to find new solutions to help their patients. Roger is experienced in a wide range of relaxation methods including mindfulness-based stress reduction, autogenic training, progressive muscle relaxation and yoga. He is also a clinical hypnotherapist at the LCCH Pantai Therapy Centre.
FEISAL UMAR
FBSCH, Vice Principal LCCH International, Senior Lecturer LCCH International and LCCH AsiaFeisal Umar is the Vice Principal LCCH International. He has extensive clinical knowledge both in the field of clinical hypnosis and the field of complementary medicine. He works extensively with government agencies to ensure the quality of standards of teaching and administration within LCCH International. Feisal understands from direct experience the importance of comfort and care for patients with chronic illness. His specialist area is oncology, and working closely with the Macmillan Team has set up the patient support group using clinical hypnotherapy for cancer patients receiving chemotherapy at St George’s Hospital, London. Feisal also understands how important it is to help students make the transition from the classroom learning to the consulting room. He is regularly available to help students and has integrated counseling and other therapeutic skills into the main teaching curriculum. Feisal’s extensive experience and knowledge opens the doors for collaboration with organisations and different disciplines. He is actively involved in teaching in higher education and on degree levels.
KO TEIK YEN
BSc (Hons), PDCHyp, MBA, MBSCH, Senior Lecture LCCH AsiaKo Teik Yen is passionate about health and well-being. His life journey has led him to integrate clinical hypnotherapy, mindfulness and communication skills into winning and exciting treatment protocols. He is the Founder of the Academy of Asian Parenting, author of Parenting 2.0 designed to help moms and dads cope with the challenges of raising children in the digital age. Ty Ko is an exciting and dynamic lecturer. Students are fascinated by his breadth of knowledge particularly his insights on the underlying psychological trauma that underpins many diseases. Ty Ko is a senior lecturer for the LCCH Asia and the past Treasure for the MSCH. He was also the scientific chair for the highly successful Inaugural Conference in Clinical Hypnotherapy in 2015.
MATT KROUWELL
BA (Hons), DHyp, PDCHyp, MBSCH, Senior Lecturer LCCH AsiaMatthew Krouwel has been fascinated by the benefits that clinical hypnosis can bring to mainstream psychotherapeutic practice. He has over 20 years practice and lecturing experience and has taught clinical hypnotherapy around the world at universities and medical schools. He is currently a visiting lecturer at University of Birmingham, Medical School, where he is also researching the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome with clinical hypnotherapy. Students find Matt, charming, funny and generous with his knowledge. He shares extensively from his clinical experiences and on how to select different methods and approaches for specific patients. His main area of clinical work is related to dietary related issues, such as weight control, bulimia, IBS, and nutrition. But he is also a highly sought after general hypnotherapist working with a complete range of symptoms from habit breaking to psychosexual disorder and abuse survival. Matt is a Diplomat member of the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis, a status awarded to members in recognition of extensive work completed in the field of clinical hypnosis.
CHRISTABELLE LEE
English Language SupportChristabelle Lee is the Academic Administrator for LCCH Asia, tasked with ensuring that the accreditation documentation is in order. She is tasked with liaising with the education approving body in Singapore – the Committee for Private Education (CPE) in matters pertaining to the administration and registration of LCCH Asia courses. Chris is also a British Council trained English teacher, offering coaching, tuition and help for students who require language assistance when submitting their written assignments. She has also completed the Certificate in Clinical Hypnosis and is familiar with the subject matter. In addition to providing English guidance to college, university and adult students, Christabelle is credited with editing books for budding authors, several dissertations, and doctorate submissions.
DATIN DR AMBIKADEVI MKG NAIR
MBBS, PCHyn, PDCBHyp, Senior Lecturer LCCH AsiaDr Ambika has over 30 years of experience working with patients. Her role as a family physician and in her own private practice offering clinical hypnotherapy provide her with an excellent understanding of the impact that psychological stress and distress have on the recovery and health of patients. Dr. Ambika is a highly sought after lecturer who is passionate about the benefits that clinical hypnosis provides and committed to her students. She teaches on all levels of the LCCH Asia curriculum and students will find that she always has time for their questions and difficulties, going the extra mile to make sure they have grasped concepts and practical techniques. Dr Ambika is a Director at the LCCH Therapy Centre @ Pantai Hospital. She is also actively involved in lecturer training progammes at LCCH Asia.
DR ROHAIDA ABDUL HALIM (Dentist)
Specialist Lecturer LCCH Asia, Postgraduate Coordinator UITMDr Rohaidah is one of the pioneering dentists in Malaysia committed to including clinical hypnosis as a treatment and training option for dentists. She has included clinical hypnosis in her dental practice and is excited and fascinated by the patient management opportunities this presents. Dr Rohaidah is one of the dentists collaborating with LCCH Asia to offer specialist training in clinical hypnotherapy for dentists.
DR ANNAPURNY VENKITESWARAN
Specialist Lecturer LCCH Asia, Head of Pediatric Dentistry UiTMDr. Annapurny Venkiteswaran is one of the pioneers of clinical hypnotherapy in dentistry in Malaysia. She uses clinical hypnosis as an adjunct to help manage children who are anxious or dental phobic and incorporates hypnotic language into the clinical communications used in patient management. She also includes clinical hypnotherapy as part of her general teaching to help anxious dental students prepare for their sessions. Dr Anna is one of the dentists collaborating with LCCH Asia to offer specialist training in clinical hypnotherapy for dentists.
PROFESSOR DR MAYA KHEMLANI DAVID
Academic AdviserProfessor Dr. David is an Honorary Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Linguists, United Kingdom. As a sociolinguist, Dr. David has a special interest in discourse analysis, languages in Malaysian minority communities and the role of language in establishing and maintaining national unity. Dr David is academic adviser to LCCH Asia. Dr. David is a Member of the Managing Board of The Social Capital Foundation and a Member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Communication Practices.
