Clinical Hypnotherapy
Most clinical hypnotherapists work in private practice. This allows you to choose your own working hours. Many practitioners create a home office or therapy facility. However, there are also opportunities to join group therapy practices, become a visiting consult to a GP practice or join an alternative health group. Some Spa resorts also offer clinical hypnotherapy services.
Read More Where do I start The Certificate in Clinical Hypnosis provides a comprehensive introduction to life as a clinical hypnotherapist. You will acquire skills to teach self-hypnosis, help other people manage their stress, build confidence and relax. You will also be able to identify solutions to problems, communicate more effectively and provide comfort to a great many people. Your ability to manage your own stress and emotional well-being helps you to inspire others and share these benefits with family members and colleagues. For some people having the tools, which can enhance their own personal life or even that of a loved one is sufficient. Becoming a Therapist There is no shortcut to becoming a clinical hypnotherapist. You will be working with people’s emotions and it takes time to master these skills. Your journey begins whilst you are on the Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy. Our advice is to take advantage of your personal clinical mentor. Discuss real and hypothetical cases with them. Ask their advice on how to treat symptoms and patients and start working with patients as soon as you are able to do so. The Diploma includes business management modules designed to help you get started. You should also take advantage of every opportunity to practise during the practice times allocated. Your lecturers and facilitators will provide feedback, designed to help you grow as a therapist. Advertising and Starting out A very useful way to create awareness is to offer talks to local groups. You can also create a blog page or even a website. Graduates may enter their details on to the LCCH Asia Directory of Clinical Hypnotherapists. It takes time to create awareness. A golden rule is to expect to wait by your phone for three months before you get your first unsolicited patient. When it happens, it will be both exciting and terrifying. But don’t panic, you will have benefited from world-class training and despite your nerves, you will be ready to see your patient. LCCH Asia will provide assistance with marketing, referring patients and other on-going activities to support you as you get started. As a new therapist, you will also be eligible to use the LCCH Therapy Facilities in both Malaysia and Singapore (Please refer to Terms and Conditions for use). How Long Does It Take It takes about two years to establish a good practice. As you grow in confidence you will find that patients seek you out. Word of mouth is an excellent way to get patients. You can also network with other healthcare professionals in your area and enter your name on the BSCH and LCCH Asia register of clinical hypnotherapists. The World Health Organisation has highlighted the increasing incidence of stress and depression in our society. A good way to create awareness is to offer pro bono lunch talks at local organisations or companies. What can I Charge Clinical hypnotherapy is considered a brief strategic therapy. The rates are therefore higher than for counselling (which is balanced out by the brief nature of the therapy). Practitioner graduates often charge similar rates to clinical psychologists and higher fees for certain conditions. When Will I be Ready All good therapists are nervous before they see a patient. This indicates that it is important to you. The trick is to channel the extra energy into getting ready for the patient. You should also remember that for many patients, the first visit to a therapist is terrifying and may even be the last hope that they cling to. Your patient will be nervous too and it is your job to make them feel at ease.
The LCCH Asia will offer you support through your clinical mentor and after you graduate through a BSCH-approved clinical supervisor. Your success is important to us.
