Course Descriptions

The course is extremely practical

Every technique will be demonstrated and you will additionally receive time to practise and discuss how to use the technique in real life situations.

Students will also work with real patients and present a case history as part of the final assessment on this course.

Psychotherapeutic Studies

You will need to master psychotherapy and counselling techniques.

  • Behavioural psychology and pscho-dynamic approaches will provide a strong theoretical framework. The LCCH are also pioneers in integrating these disciplines with clinical hypnosis and you will have an opportunity to discover how this is done.
  •  Social psychology and its implications in healthcare management are included in Locus of control, metaphorical communications, clinical communications, information gathering and creating rapport.
  • Hypno-psychotherapeutic techniques such as secondary gains, working with resistance, regression therapy, paradoxical intention, hypno-analysis, hypno-behavioural therapy,

Clinical Studies

  • You will work with the major groups of illnesses such as behavioural problems, pain management, anxiety disorders, psychosomatic symptoms. In this way, you will have the skills to manage most of the cases which walk into your consulting room.
  • You will also practise specific techniques for managing migraine, insomnia, bruxism, hypnodontics, snoring, nightmares, dermatological conditions, irritable bowel disorder, depression, dystonia, minor surgery, pain management, childbirth, breaking unwanted habits, (smoking and over-eating), childhood difficulties including nocturnal enuresis and separation anxiety, panic attacks, asthma and phobias.
  • As with all practical skills training courses, you will have an opportunity to observe and then practise each of the techniques taught. Part of your training will involve recognising your own limitations and the contraindications and indications for both presenting patient and symptom. 

Advanced Clinical Hypnosis Techniques

  • Research shows that clinical communications and psychotherapy are significantly enhanced when hypnosis is included.
  • Regressions, dissociation techniques, pseudo-orientation in time (hallucinated age progression).
  • glove anesthesia, control room of mind (pain control).
  • hallucinations, hypnography (automatic writing/drawing), time distortion,  suggested amnesia, memory substitution.
  • Ericksonian hypnosis, including indirect forms of suggestion, compound suggestions, metaphors and narrative, the ‘yes’ set, truisms, confusion techniques, surprise technique, interspersal technique, utilisation technique. 

General Skills

  • NLP, including eye movement patterns, pacing, mirroring.
  • Case history taking and management – assessment and treatment planning.
  • Lucid dreaming.
  • Performance anxiety including public speaking, examination nerves and ego-strengthening; improved sporting performance, negative mind set.
  • Pregnancy and fertility.
  • Practice Management – building your own clinical practice, getting started and on-going support.
  • Therapeutic boundaries, safe practice, ethical considerations, governing legislations.
