Michael Joseph

Founder & Principal of LCCH

His vision to create a formal training programme for clinical hypnotherapy has resulted in the first Masters Degree (MSc) in clinical hypnotherapy. Michael has successfully integrated European, British and Ericksonian approach to creates a global model. He is a Fellow of the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis and is recognized by the Brand Laureate of Malaysia.

Michael Joseph established and is the publisher of the European Journal of Clinical Hypnosis (EJCH) and founder President of the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis. He is the originator of the full LCCH training programme

Sheila Menon

Principal & Director of LCCH Asia

Sheila Menon is the Principal for the London College of Clinical Hypnosis (Asia-Australia). She has over 20 years’ experience as a clinical hypnotherapist and is a Fellow of the British Association of Medical Hypnosis and the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis. She is also the past president of the Malaysian Society of Clinical Hypnosis.

Being a hands-on Principal, Sheila lectures in London and Asia and is also one of the Directors of the LCCH Therapy Centre at Pantai Hospital KL. Sheila is also the international editor for the European Journal of Clinical Hypnosis and a regular contributor on BFM 89.9 Radio Station and for Shape magazine. 




BSc (Hons), PDCHyp, MBSCH

Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr M Mahadevan, is a former Government Chief Psychiatrist and Founder of the Malaysian Psychiatric Association. He is also the co-founding member of the Malaysian Society of Clinical Hypnosis, which was established in 1984. In 2008, the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis recognized his contributions in the field of clinical hypnosis and awarded him the Fellow of the BSCH. 

Tan Sri Dr. Mahadevan has been involved with clinical hypnotherapy for over 55 years. He has worked with some of the most important researchers and contributors to clinical hypnotherapy – Dr. John Hartland (UK), Dr. Herbert Spiegel (USA), Dr. David Spiegel (USA) and Mr. Michael Joseph (UK).

Tan Sri Dr. Mahadevan became an adviser to the LCCH Asia in 2007. He attended each of the courses and approved the quality and standards of the teaching.  In 2010, he launched the Harvard Travelling Fellowship. 


Peter Mabbbutt

Director of Studies

Peter Mabbutt is the Global CEO and Director of Research for the LCCH. He combines 20 years of psycho-pharmacology with two decades of clinical hypnotherapy practice.

Besides being a lecturer at LCCH, he is also a Clinical Hypnotherapist at the Guy's Hospital, St. Thomas' Hospital and Southwark Council 'Health Education. Peter is also a member of the editorial team for the European Journal of Clinical Hypnosis and a Fellow of the BSCH. 

Dr Alan Soh

Medical Director LCCH Asia

Dr. Alan Soh is the Medical Director of the LCCH Asia and the President of the Malaysian Society of Clinical Hypnosis.

He is also a general medical practitioner with his own practice in Shah Alam, Selangor, where clinical hypnotherapy is offered both as an adjunct to medical practice and as a stand-alone clinical hypnotherapy option.  

Dr. Alan is actively pioneering the research into the use of clinical hypnosis and surgery and is the Course Leader for the Advanced Practitioner Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy.

He believes that symptoms are an expression of a delicate interplay of biological, psychological and social factors. His training as a medical doctor has enabled him to manage the biological components of diseases, whilst his experience in clinical hypnotherapy enables him to practice holistic medicine and address the psychological and social components of illnesses. Dr. Alan is a visiting Hypnotherapy Consultant at the University Malaya Medical Centre’s Chronic Pain Clinic.

Dr. Alan holds a Practitioner Diploma in Clinical Hypnosis and a Specialist Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy and is a full member of the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis. He lectures at all levels of courses offered at LCCH Asia.


Integrative CBT Therapist

Yasmin Headley is an Integrative CBT therapist and supervisor with 20 years experience in the area of psychotherapy. She studied therapy in the UK and US and is a member of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy, the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, and trained with the Academy of Cognitive Therapists in Philadelphia, USA.

She has an interest in CBT, biofeedback, hypnotism, guided imagery, mindfulness, autogenics, positive psychology and energy medicine. Yasmin has taught at the Universidad de Los Andes and Colegio Americano in Bogota, Colombia and at the Academy in the UK. She grew up and went to school in Malaysia and believes that good therapy is like good Malaysian food - it is about the method, discipline, variety, adaptability, pleasure, joy, fun and going back to our roots.


Clinical Hypnotherapist

Thanam is London trained in Hypnotherapy and has obtained her Practitioner in Hypnotherapy (2010) from the London College of Clinical Hypnosis (LCCH), accredited by University of West London. She is a member of the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis [MBSCH]. She has experience and training in counseling methodologies from CCC Vellore, India (1982).

With a Bachelor degree in Sociology Thanam first worked as a Social Worker counseling battered women and children under the umbrella of 'Women's Aid Organisation'(1982). A scholar of the National Women’s Council London she attended a course on ‘Child Care’at Ware College, Hertfordshire (1984) enriching her knowledge of child development and the psychological and cognition levels of children.

She believes patients’ health can be improved by relieving emotional stress and unlocking painful memories and fearful states. She combines client focused counseling techniques with parts therapy under the state of hypnosis to effect physical, and psychological strength. Her core capabilities are in stress management and grief counseling. Thanam has the particular interest in working with issues surrounding women and children.

Thanam was instrumental in bringing public education programs on making lifestyle changes for a healthier life through the Malaysian Healthy Ageing Society.(2002).

Dr Sumithra

MBBS, Dip Pract Derm, DCHypn, MBSCH

Dr. Sumithra is a Practitioner Clinical Hypnotherapist and a senior lecturer for the LCCH Asia. She is also the course leader for the Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy.

She is also a Medical Practitioner with 25 years’ experience that has led her to understand that most medical symptoms stem from deep rooted psychological factors. She combines clinical hypnotherapy in her medical practice creating a holistic approach to patient care and treatment of conditions and symptoms.

Dr. Sumithra brings her extensive experience of teaching nurses and practicing medicine into the classroom. She uses a practical and dynamic approach, which allows students to understand both the power and the limitations of clinical hypnotherapy. Dr. Sumithra’s commitment to patient care led to her research into the use of clinical hypnosis to treat distress in cancer patients. 

Ko Teik Yen

BSc (Hons), PDCHyp, MBA, MBSCH, Affil. AFPM

Ko Teik Yen is a senior lecturer for the LCCH and the Treasure for the MSCH. He was also the scientific chair for the highly successful Inaugural Conference in Clinical Hypnotherapy in 2015.

TY Ko is a Director at the LCCH Therapy Centre at Pantai, KL, and brings a wealth of practical experience from the treated phobias, anxiety disorders, life-style and non-communicable diseases into the classroom.

A Therapist and a parent, TY Ko is the Author of the “Parenting 2.0 – Empowering Moms and Dads in Raising Respectful, Responsible, Resilient and Resourceful Children in the Digital Age”.



Dr. Yew currently the Senior Medical Doctor of a medical group practice in Kuala Lumpur. She has more than 30 years of experience in primary care practice and as a family physician. She is passionate about clinical hypnotherapy and about empowering future clinical hypnotherapists to work safely and competently with the enormous range of medical, psychological and behavioral conditions which clinical hypnosis can help.

Dr. Yew is a lecturer at the London College of Clinical Hypnosis and lecturers for LCCH Asia in Malaysia and Singapore.


PDip Clinical Hypnosis

Yap Ju Lian is a Clinical Hypnotherapist as well as a certified Colour Therapist and Play Therapist. She started her private practice in 2009 and since then, has had wide exposure to the treatment of a multitude of symptoms ranging from clinical to non-clinical cases, with patients presenting from both Malaysia and Singapore.

Ju Lian is actively involved with providing pro bono treatment for abused women and children, such cases referred to her by Non-Government Individual (NGI) rescuers and shelters. She also offers gratis group therapies for caretakers and caregivers of special needs children and adults.

With invaluable learning from her previous vocation as a Corporate Strategic Planning Director, Executive Creative Director, and Corporate Trainer, Ju Lian is able to deliver LCCH course materials in ways that challenge and develop both critical and creative thinking, through the optimal combination of theory with expansive practical work and group discussions.




Dr Ambika is the course leader for the Certificate course. She is also an active member of the Lecturer Training Committee. 

Dr. Ambika has more than 30 years’ of experience in the practice of medicine as a general practitioner in Kuala Lumpur. Her vast clinical experience enables her to provide excellent understanding in dealing with patients with clinical conditions. She is a highly sought after lecturer and is passionate about the benefits clinical hypnotherapy brings to the patient. 

Koh Kek Hoe

LLM (London), PDCHyp, MBSCH

Kek Hoe is a qualified Clinical Hypnotherapist who specializes in corporate work and training.

A believer in life-long learning, he takes a keen interest in science, technology, and the arts, with a definite bias for the exciting possibilities inherent in the fields of mind-body interactions and human potential development.

Kek Hoe's role at the LCCH is to work with students on the Certificate course by coaching them in their first steps towards becoming clinical hypnotherapists.


BA in Political Science, MSc in Risk Management

Muralee began his career as a broadcast journalist before moving into Issues and Crisis Management with Burson-Marsteller, handling some of the major events of the 1980s including the Lockheed-Tanaka, Northern Ireland Investments, New Coke, and Anti-Tobacco challenges. He transitioned into the emerging field of risk management in the mid-1990s as one of the pioneers in Asia, where he was involved in some prominent crises including the crash of a B747 in East Asia, the eviction of Squatters on Malayan Railway Land, disruption of an IVF Centre and the loss of Digital Data that had financial, legislative, legal, environmental and reputational consequences. His varied experiences made him a leader in the pursuit of learning from mistakes and an advocate against the corporate blame culture and theories of single-points of failures.

Muralee adopts the practical methodology to examine issues, risks, and the potential of crises for corporate leaders through facilitated workshops and simulated exercises. His customized courses focus on real-time real situational problems that are or could confront corporates in Asia. They are designed and controlled to tease out practical risk controls from the hubris within the realm of a corporation’s ongoing operational parameters and constraints. In addition, programs in risk advocacy, operational safety culture, crisis leadership and media management are specifically customized for senior management.

Currently based in Australia, Muralee has worked in Singapore, the United Kingdom, and Malaysia and has a strong working knowledge of both international and Asian corporate cultures and their opportunities and constraints in managing issues, risks, and crises.

Bill Frost

BSc (Hons), PDCHyp, MBSCH

Bill Frost is a senior lecturer for the LCCH. He left the corporate and defenses/information technology management sectors and trained as a clinical hypnotherapist over a decade ago. 

Bill is a dedicated and meticulous clinical hypnotherapists who has combined his passion for IT with his compassion for helping people. This has led him to become involved in several hypnotherapy research projects which have included the development of computer-based tools to assist clinical hypnotherapists.

Bill lectures in the UK, Europe, and Asia.

He has hypnotherapy practices in Central London and in High Wycombe and has developed a reputation for the successful treatment of trauma, addictions, and anxiety based conditions generally. Besides being a lecturer at LCCH, Bill's role within the college also encompasses responsibility for LCCH IT initiatives.

michelle hague

BA (Hons) Ed. Cert Ed. PDCHyp

Michelle is an experienced further education lecturer, she developed a keen interest in educational psychology which has lead to further studies in NLP and hypnosis and their therapeutic applications. She trained in Clinical Hypnotherapy with the LCCH, more recently adding Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy to her skills. She currently works from four busy private clinics in, Sidmouth; Axminster; Seaton and Exeter in East Devon and has developed a good reputation for working effectively with all anxiety based conditions. Michelle is the London College of Clinical Hypnosis coordinator for Exeter, south-west region, and is a currently lecturing, tutoring and supervising for them.

charles caruana


Charles Caruana began his professional studies in 1977 in the field of psychoanalytic psychotherapy, subsequently furthering his career by training as a supervisor. In that role, he was responsible for conducting training therapy sessions as well as for supervising the therapeutic work of trained and experienced therapists.

In 1997, Charles decided to become a hypnotherapist, undertaking training with LCCH. Since he qualified, he has gained fourteen years clinical experience as a hypnotherapist, in both treatment and supervision. In recent years he has been exploring the field of regression therapy, in past lives and the inter life. He has compiled a course in the subject area, designed to qualify practicing therapists. He is a Senior Lecturer at the London College of Clinical Hypnosis.

matthew krouwell

BA (Hons), DHyp, PDCHyp

Matthew is a full-time therapist practicing in Birmingham. He graduated from Keele University in 1996, where he first became interested in psychotherapies. This interest led directly to training with the LCCH. His main areas of work relate to dietary related issues, such as weight control, bulimia, IBS, and nutrition. Matthew is a qualified non-medical nutritionist and uses this specialist knowledge to provide a more rounded approach with many of his clients.

feisal umar


Feisal has worked in the complementary therapies industry for over seventeen years. His extensive experience and knowledge have allowed him to work as a specialist lecturer teaching students at a range of colleges to both further education and degree levels. He is now a Senior Lecturer for the LCCH.

Feisal is currently working at St Georges Hospital, using hypnotherapy with cancer patients receiving chemotherapy as part of a holistic approach to patient care. He has been instrumental in setting up a ‘patient’s support group’ in the hospital’s Oncology Unit and works closely with the Macmillan team.

Feisal’s interest in working with cancer care patients arose after a family member was diagnosed with cancer. This has enabled Feisal to bring a meaningful insight into his practice.



Professor Dr. David is an Honorary Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Linguists, United Kingdom. As a sociolinguist, Dr. David has a special interest in discourse analysis, languages in Malaysian minority communities and the role of language in establishing and maintaining national unity.

Dr. David is a Member of the Managing Board of The Social Capital Foundation and a Member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Communication Practices. Maya David is the Linguapax Prize Winner for 2007. Her publications include The Sindhis of Malaysia: A Sociolinguistic Account (2001, London, ASEAN) and co-written Writing a Research Paper (2006, Serdang: UPM). Her co-edited and edited publications are Politeness in Malaysian Family Talk (2008, Serdang: UPM), Language and Human Rights: Focus on Malaysia (2007, Serdang: UPM), Language and the Power of the Media (2006, Frankfurt, Peter Lang), Language Choices and Discourse of Malaysian Families: Case Studies of Families in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (2006, Petaling Jaya, Strategic International and Research Development Centre), Teaching of English in Second and Foreign Language Settings: Focus on Malaysia (2004, Frankfurt, Peter Lang) and Developing Reading Skills (2002, Kuala Lumpur: Melta/Sasbadi).

Michael holds a Diploma in Clinical Hypnosis, a Practitioner Diploma in Clinical Hypnosis and a Practitioner Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy. He is a full member of the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis and a practitioner member of the Association of Psychotherapists and Counsellors (Singapore) as well as an affiliate member of the Academy of Family Physicians of Malaysia.

He was once a Licensed Aircraft Engineer in the aviation field before moving across to join the Communications & Power Industries (CPI) located in Palo Alto, USA as a Regional Administrator / Product Sales Manager for Singapore office.  CPI designs and manufactures Microwave products for the applications in Satellite Communications, Radar, Industrial, Medical and Scientific systems.

As a youngster, Michael has keen interest in doing research into consciousness and its important role in the field of mind / body medicine, which compelled him to take a big left turn seven years ago in making the move to take up professional courses in Ayurvedic Pharmacology, Medical Yoga and Clinical Hypnotherapy and now helps people heal and transform. This is a job that would likely be tough to automate even for the most advanced society.

He has been practicing as a Clinical Hypnotherapist for the last four years and also a Council of Private Education (CPE) certified Lecturer/Tutor with the London College of Clinical Hypnosis (LCCH) Asia in Singapore.



Clinical Hypnotherapist and NLP Master Practitioner

Arpita did her Clinical Hypnotherapy certificate training from London College of Clinical Hypnosis (LCCH), UK in 2005 followed by Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy from LCCH Asia. Arpita also holds a Masters in Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) from UK, certified by International NLP Trainers Association (INLPTA) UK. She is also trained in Time Line Therapy.

Arpita utilizes her knowledge and training in both NLP and Clinical Hypnotherapy to assist her patients.

With the experience of work in UK, India and in Singapore, she actively works with individuals, both adults, and children, to help them achieve their desired goals and outcome in a positive way. Arpita understands and appreciates diversity in individual thoughts, actions and behaviors and so modifies and develops strategies to suit individual needs.

She graduated in science, and then pursued post-graduation in Industrial Relation and Personnel Management and has over 15 years of experience and proven strength in Consumer Relations, Policy Making, Company Trainings and Office Management.

Arpita is a graduate member of INLPTA (International NLP Trainers Association), UK and is also a member of BSCH (British School of Clinical Hypnosis) (Affil), UK.

She loves extending her experience and expertise in coaching, NLP, and Hypnotherapy and is keenly interested in continued professional development.

A strong believer that everyone possesses resourceful states, she works together with her clients to fully utilize and draw on their pre-existing resources while unpacking the limiting beliefs and behaviors and replacing them with new powerful ones to bring about long lasting positive personal and professional changes.

yap chee weng


A graduate with Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy from the London College of Clinical Hypnosis, and a Master Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming certified by the International Society of Neuro-Semantics, he is actively involved in therapy and coaching work.

Eric is involved in training since late 1990’s, both in-house and by invitations.

Having nearly two decades of experience overseeing the administrative and human resource functions of a law practice, Eric also consults for a well-established law practice in Kuala Lumpur.




A General practitioner with 31 years of experience in the medical field. She worked with UMMC (University Malaya Medical Center) for 17 years in Family Medicine Department and now is in the private sector for past three years.

She has completed Advanced Practitioner in Clinical Hypnotherapy and now is a part time tutor in LCCH KL for past two years. She also practices clinical Hypnotherapy, provides hypnotherapy talks, group relaxation and stress management therapy for corporate offices.







DR ROGER BUHLER is a clinical hypnotherapist and a Swiss Family Physician. He is also one of the programme leaders for the LCCH Coaching and Communication and Stress Management Programmes designed to help corporate participants in Malaysia manage work life balance, deal with corporate stress and include well-being as a lifestyle choice.

Roger is experienced in a wide range of relaxation methods such as mindfulness-based stress reduction, autogenic training, progressive muscle relaxation and yoga. He trained as a clinical hypnotherapist in Europe and in Malaysia and has worked in rehabilitation medicine. He is also a clinical hypnotherapist at the LCCH Pantai Therapy Centre and a lecturer for the LCCH Asia.





Christabelle Lee has been with the LCCH for the last 3 years. She is with the Academic Administration department. She is tasked with liaising with the education approving body in Singapore – the Council for Private Education (CPE) in matters pertaining to the administration and registration of LCCH courses.

Her training with the British Council complements her penchant for the English language. In addition, her attention to detail makes this a winning combination to her articulate communication, ability to write good quality content and editing skills.

In addition to providing English guidance to college, university and adult students, Christabelle is credited with editing books for budding authors, several dissertations, and doctorate submissions.
